History

The original home of Oklahoma City's first learning institution, Epworth University, the Gatewood neighborhood was primarily developed between the early 20th century and WWII to accommodate expansion from downtown. Soon after Epworth closed its doors, its successor, Oklahoma City University, began to thrive and the area experienced substantial development alongside the growing college. Today, Gatewood is home to several historic buildings throughout its boundaries.
